Smart home technology has come a long way in the last few years. No longer just a novelty or relegated to home security systems, smart devices can help the elderly and those with disabilities live independently without having to pay a premium for products specific to their needs.

Step 2. Wait for one of our Friendly Consultants to get in contact ( normally during the same day or the next day) 

Step 3. We will book a time that suits you and the Client. 

Step 4.  Just Attend the Consult ( talk as little or as much as you like, the Consultant will definitely take the weight of you during the consult in regards to any queries about smart home. .

There are a few things you can also consider.

To Us the Client's needs before everything else, It's good to consider what you want to accomplish with smart home tech. Video doorbells, for example, are great for those with limited mobility or cognitive impairments because you can see who is at the door without getting up, and a family member can also receive notifications, communicating with whoever is at the door via their smartphone. We can help in understanding what works best for your client and their family and will help you make the right choices when planning for smart devices. 

We offer an onsite consult that can assist an O.T with the client, (without the O,T needed any knowledge on smart home products)  

In Fact, most O.T's gain some benefit from hearing the consultant explain the products to the client. 

The Consultant is always sensitive to the relationship between the client and the O.T, We like being there as a body of knowledge to help improve the long-term quality of life for the client. We do our best to ensure the O.T is not placed in any awkward positions during the consult. ( we know the information is niche and hopefully, after a couple of consults together, we can help build confidence in this smart home area as well)

Ease of use
Smart devices only work if you know how to use them.  Learning to use smart devices is relatively straightforward, but all of them will take some time to get used to -- especially since some of them require you have a smartphone or tablet to control them. We offer a training package of 1-3-5 hours to ensure the client feels comfortable in the use of their new smart home.

Budget
While usually less expensive than devices marketed to those with disabilities, smart home tech can still be a dent in the household budget. We have had great success with having the NDIS and other funding bodies cover the costs of AT that assists the client with increased independence.
